Centre National Sportif et Culturel d'Coque

In 1982, the olympic swimming pool opened its doors. The striking shell-shaped roofline is reminiscent of a seashell, and is made of spans of pre-stressed concrete.

The architect Roger Taillibert (1926), has transposed the concept of sporting performance to technical expertise and architectural expression. With the swimming pool extension undertaken by the same architect in  2002, the Centre National Sportif et Culturel ("d'Coque") was created.

The sports centre offers an Olympic size swimming pool, but it also provides  sports classes such as pilates, zumba, aquafitness or back school. Moreover it offers its customers 2 fitness rooms and outdoor sports facilities.

In addition to its function as a national sports center, the Coque also provides facilities for  major sporting and cultural events, concerts and conferences. The 4.300 square meter „Arena“ offers room for 8.000 people and presents the right setting for the annual „Night of the Proms“.
The Coque also hosts 2 restaurants, a three star hotel  and a wellness center, as well as a climbing wall.
