The annual rock festival "Rock um Knuedler" is an absolute summer highlight in Luxembourg-city's open air festival scene. In 2013, the popular festival will again set place Guillaume II on fire on Sunday, 7.7.2013, right in the centre of town, one day after the World MeYouZik festival that will take place on the same square on Saturday, 6.7.2013.
Rock um Knuedler is the capital's biggest open air rock festival and the entry is free. Every summer, up to 15.000 music lovers vibrate during 10 hours, while luxembourgish bands and international headliners rock on 3 stages on place Guillaume II.
The festival Rock um Knuedler has been created 21 years ago by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) who's the official promoter. Ever since then, it has been a platoform for Luxembourg's most talented rock bands as well a festival of regional envergure. The little Horse Stage is a real thermometer of of Luxembourg's latest rock trends while the bigger Lion Stage hosts the more popular bands and international headliners. The LCTO individually books the international bands, but cooperates with the "Centre de Ressources de la Rockhal Esch" ("Centre de Musiques Amplifiées") to choose the luxembourgish bands.
