British & Irish Film Season 2016
Seminar on Ireland-Luxembourg Film Industries with Ireland Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ILCC) & screening - registration online at www.ilcc.lu

The 7th annual British & Irish Film Season (BIFS) is taking place between 21 September and 1 October 2016 at venues throughout Luxembourg including the Cinémathèque, Utopolis-Kirchberg and Ciné Utopia.

The season features both independently-produced films as well as those from established production houses, therefore providing Luxembourg's diverse and cosmopolitan cinema-going public with the opportunity to see both established stars as well as up-and-coming actors. Films are screened from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England and the Isle of Man.

Britain and Ireland have played important roles in the evolution of the cinema; they have produced a string of wonderful films with the industry now turning out more and more feature films, shorts and animated films, with recent years' Oscar nominations laying testimony to the depth of talent to be found across the length and breadth of the British Isles: from drama to documentary, from horror to comedy, from adventure to science fiction, the scope is endless.

In addition, so many great actors continue to emanate from the British Isles, some starting off in low-budget films and others starring in blockbusters, and many staying in the industry for decades, continuously developing the British Isles' "film industry brand".

The programming is supported by collaboration with the Edinburgh Film Festival and the Galway Film Fleadh, both regarding the selection of the best films to screen and issuing invitations to a number of actors, directors, producers and script-writers to attend the BIFS and engage with the audiences - stay tuned to learn who will be attending this year! BIFS also has the support of the British and Irish Embassies in Luxembourg as well as the Film Fund Luxembourg.

BIFS 2016 includes a number of initiatives including the popular Young Journalist Competition, an Audience Award (and an Audience Prize!) and a Jury Prize too.
