On a plateau : architecture and contemporary art

Crossing over the Grande-Duchesse Charlotte bridge, commonly known as the "red bridge", to reach the new district of Kirchberg, the first discovery is the Museum of Modern Art Grand Duke Jean MUDAM. It was designed by Ieoh Ming Pei, Sino-American architect famous for also creating the glass pyramid of the Louvre in Paris. One can also discover the glass cathedral erected on an ancient Vauban fort, and decorated with stained glass by artist Wim Delvoye. A few metres further on, the Philharmonie with its more than 800 vertical columns, and fitted out with world-class acoustics.

The neighborhood is also home to one of the several seats of the European Union. The European Court of Justice, the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Auditors are also located here.
